Do you wanna learn about alevin? Alevin are about 1 inch long. They have tiny tails and no fins when they hatch, and a yolk sac attached to their stomach. They live in a redd. There has to be a lot of woody debris because they have to be camouflaged. They can’t go far out of the redd or else they will get eaten by predators. Alevin have a yolk sac that acts like a lunch box and gives them food. Many predators eat alevin. Fish and birds also eat alevin. Some predators are Blue Heron and Trout. Did you know that different types of alevin look very different. Alevin are pretty cool. Go alevin!

Dear Caleb,
I really like your post about alevin. I agree with what you said. I have a few questions. What types of predators usually eat Alevin? What is the life span of a salmon? Finally, how long does it take for a alevin to develop into a fry/parr? It’s fun being in class with you.
